Question
I feel as though I've been searching for a very long time for a very elusive target - a healthy physical body. It seems as though it's always something. I've tried conventional medicine, alternatives out the wazoo, all sorts of mind-body techniques, and prayer and meditation. What else can I do to balance my physical existence? Why are our physical bodies such a challenge?
Answer
Everybody would agree that it's quite a challenge to remain physically comfortable and free of dis-ease. I believe you are right to explore various healing methods including medical doctors and energy healers. We all have healing abilities, unfortunately, many times we can more easily focus on another's body. It is truly easier to heal than to be healed. Learning to listen to our own bodies (they always tell the truth) is the key. Trust yourself to know what to eat, how much rest to get, when to visit a health practitioner, etc. For you personally, my sense is that you think too much and trust yourself too little. Try to relax into any discomfort in your body and let your instincts guide you to the correct healing choice. You can learn how to feel your best using this simple method. Of course, finding quiet times to listen to your body is important. Spend a few minutes each day in intimate conversation with your body.
Question
I am in the middle of major life changes right now from relationship to job to relocation. In addition, I would like to remain friends with the person I am separating from, but due to past communication problems, am unsure how heartfelt his request to be friends really is. Can you enlighten me as to what is opening up as this door closes?
Answer
Thanks for the interesting question. You certainly are in the midst of many changes - of course, they will all turn out for the best. I believe that you are ready to step into a new phase of personal growth. I'm sure you must already know that. As far as the relationship that you are leaving - I do not feel that you can maintain a healthy friendship - the energy is a bit strained and you need time for yourself (as does the other person). So, I would focus on your career and building a new sense of self. A new job and a new geographical location are in order.
