Question
With the holiday season coming up soon, I'd like to ask how I can find myself in a more peaceful place. I seem to worry all the time, and I catch every bug that passes by. The holidays just seem to provide more opportunities to catch the current virus, and I'm dreading the parties. Maybe I'm just depressed and frustrated. What can I do to help myself enjoy the holidays (I used to) and stay well?
Answer
You have diagnosed yourself quite well. You are, of course, both depressed and frustrated. Your base energy is quite strong, however, and I believe you can do much to feel better and enjoy the holiday get-togethers. First of all, sit down and relax several times each day, truly RELAX. Don't think of what you need to do or where you need to be later. You need exercise, but your physical body does not feel strong enough quite yet to do a lot of it (those bugs were busy). You must remember to move your body (stretching/walking) regularly each day. As your physical body responds, so will your emotional self. Your depression is not an ongoing issue, and your frustration will diminish as you get stronger. So, take very good care of yourself in the near term and you won't be an open invitation for any more of those nasty bugs that can make life pretty miserable. I send you much healing energy and love for the holidays and the New Year.
