Question
Is my life going to get any better or am I here to see how much pain and suffering a person can handle?

Answer
Your life can and will get better (with your help). You certainly feel down and out and you must regain your faith and trust in life. You have lots of energy and all you need to do is use that power you have to regain your balance and a really healthy attitude about life. Do not allow others to have so much effect on your life. Take responsibility for just yourself and take very good care of yourself. Good things will follow.

Question
I know you discuss animal communication regularly in your column. I'd like to know why it's so difficult to try to communicate with my dog and so easy to understand my cat. Is it always like that? Are cats easier to converse with? My dog just looks at me like I'm crazy and goes about his business. My cat, on the other hand, stops when I talk to her, and usually sends me a mental picture of an answer, even if it's just a "yes" or a "no" response to my question. What can I do to work better with my dog?

Answer
If you're already so successful in your communication efforts with your cat, your dog won't be far behind. Just give him a bit more time and patience. Cats are not usually easier than dogs, in fact, most dogs are more anxious to talk to their companions than cats. One difference: cats tend to be to the point in their communication, and dogs tend to be more vague. It's hard to describe actually, but dogs tend to send more emotional responses and try to send more involved messages. When your dog is ready, I know he'll be sharing with you as well. Just take it slow and be very patient with him. Continue to practice with them both - you're doing a great job.
