Question
My six-year-old son occasionally "sees" people. He has seen a young boy walking through the house, and recently he came running in from the back yard, locked the back door, and told me he had seen a "black" man out there. I asked him if he meant black like African-American and he said, "No, black like the color but with no eyes or face." He was very frightened by this, but he'd never been frightened before. He's also had dreams of white figures, and they don't frighten him. Should I try to develop his gift?
Answer
First of all, no, don't focus on his ability to see spiritual beings. Simply listen to him and support him completely so he continues to learn not to be afraid when these events occur. A personal story that might help: I have throughout my life seen this "black" feature-less man. I usually see him on the side of the road when I'm driving, and I've learned that he is there to warn me of something. I slow down, drive carefully, and wait to find out what I must need to know. Several times his appearance has warned me of the death of a friend - I wasn't aware of the death at the time, but found out later. So, if you see this black man or if your son sees him again, just be aware and alert.
