Question
My cat is extremely ill. I'm so attached to her that I'm afraid I won't know what she needs. I'm afraid my emotions will block my common sense. What should I do to make certain she's getting all the medications and attention she needs? Also, how will I know when or if it's time to help her leave her physical body?
Answer
I'm so sorry to learn of your cat's illness, and I understand your concerns. It is very difficult to trust your own decisions when your emotions are so raw, but you can do it. If you have major questions, you can always call a professional animal communicator and get verification of your cat's wishes (you'll probably already know).
Try to separate your intellectual decisions from your emotional reactions for a few minutes each day. Think through her needs and her medications, and then go back into giving her emotional support and attention. Watch her eyes and her appetite - that's how you'll know how she's doing. She may be weak, but if her eyes sparkle and she eats fairly well, you'll know she's okay for the moment. If she stops eating, withdraws from you, and looks "dull," you'll know to watch her more closely. If this behavior continues for hours and hours or even days, you will know that it's time to help her leave. Much energy to you both.
