Question
I am drawn to both spirituality and the Catholic Church at this time in my life. Can I follow my spiritual path and be involved with the church? I know little about the church but feel some connection. I certainly want to grow in the best way and not waste my time with unnecessary information. I'm not sure how to trust myself in this matter.
Answer
I suggest that you explore the Catholic Church and its beliefs - at least for a time. There is much beauty in the church and many are devoted to its doctrines. You may find it possible to incorporate the church into your personal path as well. In my experience, however, for many it's difficult to study independently and stay true to the beliefs of the church. That's where the conflict arises. There can be much confusion when trying to listen to the words of the priest and the words of your own heart. Only you can decide what is best for you, and you can learn to trust yourself. Just make sure to be honest with yourself as you move along your spiritual path.
